About the Event
Join us for a knit and natter with our beginners/improvers knitting group. Hosted in our tutors studio on Route de Sausmarez, St Martins between 10.00am – 12.00pm on Thursday 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd May.
A low cost 4 week introductory course into knitting. Classes will be informal and relaxed and hope to encourage a mending mindset. The weekly plan is subject to change depending on the level in the class and individual interests.
Skills we will aim to cover:
Week 1 - Casting on. Garter stitch (knit stitching). How to join yarns. Following a simple pattern. Abbreviations. Picking up dropped stitches! Decreasing. Casting off. Item 1.
Week 2 - Purl stitch. Stocking stitch. Rib. Increasing. Following a simple pattern. Abbreviations. Picking up dropped stitches! Item 2.
Week 3 - Darning, picking up stitches in completed knitted items. Moss stitch. French knitting/ knitting an I cord. Talking about and trying different wools. Following a simple pattern. Abbreviations. Picking up dropped stitches! Item 3.
Week 4 - Beginning something larger. Following a pattern. Abbreviations. Picking up dropped stitches! Item 4.
All materials provided plus tea, coffee and biscuits.
£60 for the 4 weeks.
