MEET THE TEAM
HEAD OF OPERATIONS
Helen’s professional background is predominantly in marketing, events and communications, with a large part of this experience spent working within the travel industry. She has spent time working in international roles in London and Montenegro, and over the past five years has been contracting between her own adventures. During this time, her highlights include working as a guide in The Whitsundays National Park, getting up close with New Zealand's wildlife and training as a yoga instructor in India. Connection with nature and community are important parts of her life.
Helen joined The Clean Earth Trust in August 2020 as its first contracted position and leads the development of the charity and its growing team. She welcomes feedback, new ideas and opportunities to collaborate.

Being part of The Clean Earth Trust has been a significant move for Dani. It has allowed her to see how Guernsey reacts to the ever-growing issues of climate change. Being able to support these actions with her creative work aligns perfectly with her personal and professional values: She is a self-employed graphic designer (@niud.creative) who aims to offer sustainable "green" design whenever she can. Dani does this by looking at the whole ecosystem of any product she offers.
Outside of work, if she’s not busy trying to keep her plants alive, you’ll find her hanging out by the sea, in the woods, or in a coffee shop.
An experienced copywriter and photographer, Ashleigh joined The Clean Earth Trust at the start of 2021 as a volunteer content creator.
It was only after moving to Guernsey at the end of 2017 that Ashleigh really had her eyes opened to the issues facing our planet and, more importantly, to the power we, as individuals, have to help make a difference. Having grown up in South Africa, Ashleigh is passionate about wildlife and nature (although admittedly, she isn’t fond of spiders) and is always looking for ways to help our environment.
BEACH CLEAN CO-ORDINATOR
A Northener at heart, Fern moved from the city to the seaside in 2015, which sparked a passion for marine biology and conservation, and all round love of the sea.
Also a keen swimmer and snorkeller, Fern cares deeply for our beautiful local wildlife and marine ecosystem, and is determined to reduce micro-plastic pollution when she’s not studying or on the beach!
Fern is currently studying for a BSc Environmental Science through the Open University.
BEACH CLEAN CO-ORDINATOR
A true Guern at heart, Jenny has always had a deep passion for the ocean and coastal environment, naturally always on the look out for beach treasures! Sadly, this has gone from looking out for sea-glass to noticing pieces of plastic on the beaches.
When the tide is too low for a dip at the cup and saucer, you’ll likely find her on a solo beach clean whilst on a dog walk.
Jenny is currently studying Ocean Science and Marine Conservation at the University of Plymouth and volunteers for the Trust doing beach cleans and desk research. After uni, she hopes to have a bigger role in the sustainability movement.
BEACH CLEAN CO-ORDINATOR
Lulu started volunteering with The Clean Earth Trust as part of Duke of Edinburgh in January 2021 and following completion of her Silver Award officially joined the team as a Beach Clean Co-ordinator. You'll meet her out and about leading corporate clean-ups.
From her love for paddle boarding, yoga and the outdoors, Lulu works at Outdoor Guernsey as an instructor and will be studying outdoor adventure and environment at university from September 2022.
BEACH CLEAN TEAM LEADER
Day-to-day Sean works in the finance industry. But anyone who knows him, knows he has many hobbies and interests from cooking, to art, to running. Some are fleeting and few ‘stick’. None have been as encapsulating as the sea and the time spent in or around it. Naturally, he is driven to protect the source of his passions, keeping our oceans healthy.
Sean volunteers his time towards The Beach Clean Project, coordinating our weekly surveys and the beach clean team.
BEACH CLEAN CO-ORDINATOR
Hannah is a qualified veterinary nurse and has worked in the veterinary world for 6 years so far. Growing up on the beach and surfing is how she founded her love for the ocean. She’s a total water baby! Doing solo beach cleans and seeing pollution effects on marine animals at work is what motivated her to get involved in environment protection and conservation.
As part of the volunteer beach clean team, you’ll meet Hannah at our weekly surveys.
Inspired by his passion for all things environmental, Andrew founded The Clean Earth Trust in 2018. Growing up in Africa, coupled with concern at what he witnessed in Western consumerism since moving to Europe, compelled him to protect the world for his children. Andrew has many years of experience as a corporate lawyer and director of regulated and listed businesses.
Outside of work, Andrew spends time with his three beautiful children and his many musical outlets. He is also one of the founding members of The Guernsey Green Forum.
Laura started working with the Trust on beach cleans in 2018. She holds an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from Robinson College, Cambridge, an MSc in Global Environment, Politics, and Society from the University of Edinburgh, and is passionate about highlighting the connection between biodiversity conservation and sustainability.
In her day job she works in education and careers, and has volunteered for La Société Guernesiaise since 2017. During her spare time, Laura can usually be found with her head in a book, at the gym, or trying out new recipes.
Kelly is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant with 12 years’ experience within audit, professional education and industry. She has worked in Guernsey and the Cayman Islands as well as undertaking overseas projects in Tanzania, Zambia and India.
Climate change and the challenges facing our planet really started to hit home after attending the One Young World Summit in 2015, and this fuelled a desire to make personal lifestyle changes and educate herself about the ongoing climate discussions.
Joining the Clean Earth Trust was the perfect opportunity to use her professional skills for a cause which she is passionate about.
Jessica is a Chartered Governance professional with a background in accounting and 15 years of finance industry experience.
She has a passion for marine biodiversity and habitat conservation stemming from a love for the ocean and diving. Also experienced in driving sustainability initiatives within the business world she deeply appreciates how sustainability can improve peoples lives and jobs.
Joining the Clean Earth Trust was the perfect opportunity to combine her professional skills with something she is passionate about.
Prior to his retirement, Paul was a senior partner with a large international legal practice. During his career he was based in the UK and Hong Kong and specialised in marine and reinsurance law.
Ornithology has always been a major interest for Paul and when out and about he is seldom without a pair of binoculars or a long lens. Paul volunteers as a warden at two reserves owned by La Société Guernesiase, and carriers out a monthly bird species count at each. He combines regular dog walking with wombling on the island’s beaches and commons.
Paul is acutely aware of the harmful effects of human activity on biodiversity and joined the Management Committee in 2022 with a view to developing and pursuing policies to protect Guernsey’s environment and promote sustainability.
